GIA’S JOURNEY TO SEASCAPE ART

Gia began her early career as a commercial interior designer. Being a Hospitality and Resort designer allowed her to live and work in cities around the world like, New York, Chicago, Singapore, India and Florence, Italy.

The Artist Behind the Art

Italy is where she really began painting, immersing herself in the history of art and formal figurative training amongst life’s greatest masters. One summer she found herself painting in the tobacco fields of Tuscany and that was it, she was hooked on “plein air.” She returned to So Cal where she combined her love of painting with the local beach culture and waves became the focus of her art. She is predominately a seascape painter who loves to paint the energy of the ocean.

“Ocean Park” series is her new body of work that explores the light on wave and rock formations along the parks in Laguna Beach.

Trained in the classical figurative tradition at the New York Academy of Art, she received her MFA as well as a BFA from The School of Art Institute of Chicago. She has a Post-Baccalaureate from Studio Art Center International, Italy, and studied at Laguna College of Art and Design as well as privately with local Plein Air Painters in Southern California. Her work has been shown in Los Angeles, Nebraska, New York, Virginia, Italy, Canada and Orange County. She is an award winner and a member of the Laguna Plein Air Painter’s Association, the California Art Club, SOCAL Papa and the American Impressionist Society. Her work is represented by Mission Fine Art Gallery in San Juan Capistrano, CA.
